The short version

Who we are

MChess is made by [TBD legal name or studio name], [TBD country] ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy: [TBD privacy email].

The MChess app

What stays on your iPhone

To play your career, the app keeps a save on your iPhone. It holds:

This save is stored only in the app's own storage on your device. It's never sent to us or to anyone else. We can't see it, and we can't recover it. If you delete the app, iOS deletes the save too. Whether the save is included in your iPhone backup is up to your iOS backup settings, which Apple controls.

Your name and the gender you choose are used only inside the game: to show your name and the right title names. You can use any name you like. It doesn't have to be your real name.

What the app doesn't do

When you choose to share

Apple

You get MChess through Apple's App Store, and Apple handles purchases and payment. If you turned on "Share with App Developers" in your iPhone's settings, Apple may give us crash reports and usage statistics it collects. Apple's privacy policy covers that, not ours, and you can turn it off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

The MChess website

The waitlist and launch emails

If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address, and the date and time you signed up. We use it only to send MChess news, like beta invitations and the launch announcement. The email list is run for us by [TBD email provider], which stores the addresses on our behalf under its own privacy and security terms. Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to delete your address at any time.

Visiting the site

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. Like any web server, the host may keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to run and protect the site. This site loads no third-party fonts, scripts or analytics, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies. [TBD: list any cookie the waitlist form sets, or remove this note]

Children

The MChess app collects no personal information from anyone, including children. The website's waitlist is not meant for children under 13 (under 16 in the European Economic Area and the UK). If you think a child has given us an email address, write to us and we'll delete it.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you. In practice that's your waitlist email address, or a feedback message you sent us. We'll answer within 30 days. If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on your consent to email you, and you can withdraw it at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you're in California: we don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

How long we keep things

Changes to this policy

If the app or website starts handling information differently, we'll update this page before that version is released and change the date at the top. A big change that affects you will also be explained in the app's update notes.
